GIDEON
Gideon the son of Joash was the man who the Lord chose to defeat the Midianites.
When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and asked him to save Israel out of Midian's hand, Gideon was unsure and exhibited humility by admitting that his clan is the weakest in Manasseh and that he is the least in his family. On further persuasion from the angel of the Lord, Gideon replied “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me. Please do not go away until I come back and bring my offering and set it before you.”
Very uncertain of his capabilities and unsure whether he would be able to carry out God's command, he requested proof for the will of God by citing three miracles: firstly a sign from an angel, and then two signs involving a fleece, on two consecutive nights demanding the exact opposite situation on each day.
Judges chapters 6 to 8 show how the Lord led Gideon to win victories for the Israelites.
Gideon was a young, mighty warrior, a man of faith and had divine strategy and was Loyal to God.
These are the major attributes that would form the basis of all activities and discussions on DAY 1

RUTH
Ruth was the daughter in law of Naomi. Naomi along with her husband Elimelek and her two sons Mahlon and Kilion lived in the land of Moab. There was a great famine in that land and Naomi lost her husband and her two sons and all whom she had left were her two daughters in law Ruth and Orpah.
When Naomi decided to go back to the land of Judah, she insisted and compelled that her daughter in laws return to their respective homes and families. While Orpah abided, Ruth clinged onto her mother in law Naomi and went to Judah with her.
Her life story exhibits major attributes of the perfect daughter-in-law, her dedication and faith to Naomi and her family, obedience, hard working nature and her reputation as a ’woman of worth' and 'blessed like the mothers of Israel - Rachel and Leah'.
These are the major qualities of Ruth that would be in limelight on DAY 2

DANIEL
In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring into the king’s service some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility, young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. Daniel was one among these chosen men.
The name Daniel means 'God is my judge'. After being taken as a Jewish captive to the pagan world of Babylon, his name was changed to Belteshazzar.
Daniel quickly distinguished himself through his wisdom and deep commitment to God. Recognizing that his gifts of intelligence, physical condition and wisdom came directly from God, he continually emphasized that everything we have, including popularity or political power, is a gift that can be taken away by God at any time.
Daniel exhibited extreme devotion and faith to our living Father above and defiled and refused to do anything that was against His will. One of the most famous stories that comes to all our minds when we hear the name Daniel is the story of Daniel in the lion's den. A sheer example of his utmost faith in God, a level of devotion and prayer thats seemingly unmatched are the major attributes that would b highlighted on the DAY 3 of this year's summer camp.

ESTHER
The Queen of Esther, a story that was a fascination during the Sunday school days is widely known by all. There was in the citadel of Susa a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin, named Mordecai, Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, whom he had brought up because she had neither father nor mother. This young woman, who was also known as Esther, had a lovely figure and was beautiful. Mordecai had taken her as his own daughter when her father and mother died. Esther’s timely appointment as queen and her stature helped her save her people - the Jews from the evil schemes of Hamam.
Hamam detested the Jews and wanted to wipe them out of the kingdom simply because Mordecai refused to bow down before him.
As the story develops, Queen Esther showed traits of extreme loyalty and courage. She and her people fasted and prayed for three days hoping that the King would revoke the decree issued by Hamam. She was patient, faithful and was just.
DAY 4 celebrates these profound qualities of Queen Ester.

JOSEPH
The son of Jacob, the story of Joseph is a great example of how the Lord provides for His people. An excerpt from the story is such that Joseph told his brothers “Come close to me.” And he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.”
Joseph’s life portrayed great qualities of honesty, courage, obedience and his immense faith and devotion to God gave him the strength to resist temptations as well as forgive his brothers for selling him to the Ishmaelites. His attributes are never ending and hence his life is chosen to be the guideline for the last day of Summer Camp.
